Russian overnight strikes kill two, injure more than 15 across Ukraine

At least two people were killed and more than 15 others were injured after Russia launched a large barrage of drones and missiles overnight into Saturday, striking more than a dozen locations across Ukraine, Ukrainian officials said.
Ukraine's Air Force said Russian forces fired more than 100 drones and missiles, including Iskander ballistic missiles, targeting at least 15 locations nationwide.
Air defenses intercepted or electronically jammed 94 drones, while 27 struck their targets. Officials said at least one ballistic missile also hit its intended target, without providing further details.
Ukrainian authorities said the casualties were recorded over the past 24 hours as Russian attacks intensified across several regions.
In the eastern Donetsk region, Governor Vadym Filashkin said one civilian was killed and at least two others were injured in overnight strikes. Donetsk remains one of the most active frontlines in Russia's invasion, now entering its fourth year.
In Dnipropetrovsk, at least three people were injured after attacks hit residential buildings and energy infrastructure, according to regional officials. Governor Oleksandr Hanzha said the strikes followed an earlier attack that killed a 43-year-old man. He added that power and gas outages affected large numbers of residents as colder weather approaches.
Ukraine's largest private energy company, DTEK, said around 100,000 families were left without electricity and gas following strikes on the region. Weather forecasts indicate temperatures could fall to minus 10 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
In the southern Zaporizhzhia region, Governor Ivan Fedorov said at least three people were injured and are receiving medical treatment. Local officials said the region endured more than 740 attacks on populated areas on Friday alone.
In Kharkiv, a 56-year-old woman was injured in Russian strikes that damaged nearly a dozen multi-story residential buildings, along with warehouses, vehicles, civilian infrastructure and local businesses, according to Governor Oleh Syniehubov.
In Kherson, six people were wounded after shelling damaged homes, a parking area with civilian vehicles and a gas pipeline, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin said.
Meanwhile, in Russia's Belgorod region bordering Ukraine, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said a Ukrainian missile strike early Saturday left about 600,000 residents without power, water and gas. He said repair crews were working to restore services. — Agencies
