Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council Chairman and army chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan met on Wednesday in Port Sudan with Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Al-Khuraiji to discuss developments in Sudan and efforts to end the war, according to a statement from Sudan's Sovereign Council. The meeting reviewed the current situation in Sudan and ways to halt the conflict, the council said. In a separate statement, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the talks focused on efforts to achieve peace in Sudan in a manner that ensures security and stability and preserves the country's unity and legitimate institutions. The ministry added that Al-Khuraiji reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's keenness on the return of security and stability to Sudan and on safeguarding its territorial unity in line with the aspirations of the Sudanese people. The meeting also addressed ongoing arrangements for convening the Saudi-Sudanese Strategic Coordination Council, which Sudanese media said is held under the patronage of the leaderships of the two brotherly countries.
