ABHA — Al Hilal climbed to the top of the Saudi Pro League standings after securing a 2-0 victory over hosts Damac on Sunday in the 12th round of the competition. The win, Al Hilal's 10th of the season, lifted their tally to 32 points at the summit, one point ahead of second-placed Al Nassr, who lost 3-2 to Al Ahli on Friday. Al Hilal are set to face Al Nassr on the 12th of the month in a highly anticipated clash in the 14th round, but will first take on Al Hazm in the next round on Thursday. Damac remained on nine points in 14th place, just one point above the relegation zone. Darwin Nunez opened the scoring for Al Hilal in the 35th minute, before Marcos Leonardo added the second goal in the 53rd minute. In Dammam, Al Qadsiah continued their resurgence under new Irish coach Rodgers with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Al Riyadh. The goals were scored by Julian Quinones, Nahitan Nandez, Mateo Retegui and Turki Al Ammar. The result moved Al Qadsiah up to fifth place with 24 points, while Al Riyadh stayed on eight points in 16th place.
