Saudi Arabia urges immediate release of Palestinian clearance funds, FM deputy says
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 21 - 11 - 2025

BRUSSELS — Saudi Arabia has called for the immediate release of Palestinian clearance revenues and for an end to all coercive measures imposed by Israel against the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian people, Deputy Foreign Minister Eng. Waleed Al-Khuraiji said on Thursday.
Speaking at the meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) for donor countries in Brussels, Al-Khuraiji stressed the importance of strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian private sector and working toward unifying all Palestinian institutions under the leadership of the Palestinian Authority.
He reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment to working with international partners to help the Palestinian people achieve their aspiration for an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
"The meeting comes at a pivotal moment following the ceasefire in Gaza and the adoption of the comprehensive peace plan proposed by the United States and endorsed by the UN Security Council in Resolution 2803," he said, noting that this marks a turning point for easing the humanitarian crisis and advancing a political path based on the two-state solution.
Al-Khuraiji said Saudi Arabia initiated the launch of the Emergency Coalition to Support the Financial Stability of the Palestinian Authority, in cooperation with Spain, Norway, France and other international partners. The coalition aims to help the Palestinian Authority meet its obligations toward its people and ensure the continuity of essential institutions.
He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's full support for the work of the AHLC, stressing the need to preserve its central role and avoid creating parallel tracks that may fragment or weaken international efforts.
Al-Khuraiji also underscored Saudi Arabia's full backing for the comprehensive Gaza reconstruction plan put forward by Egypt in cooperation with the State of Palestine and coordinated with the World Bank.
The plan has been endorsed by the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the European Union and several countries.
He stressed that early recovery and reconstruction cannot begin without a stable environment, a comprehensive and lasting cessation of violence, and full protection for the Palestinian people.
Al-Khuraiji condemned the increasing settler attacks in the West Bank, warning that extremism and terrorism threaten all peace and de-escalation efforts.
He concluded by calling for the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza to enable the start of reconstruction and the deployment of an international stabilization force.
He emphasized that training and empowering Palestinian police forces is essential to any successful security approach, commending the efforts of the European Union as well as the vital roles of Egypt and Jordan in strengthening Palestinian security capabilities.
