RIYADH — The family of Mohammed Al-Qassim has announced the tragic death of their son following a fatal stabbing attack in the United Kingdom, prompting an outpouring of grief from the Saudi public. A statement confirmed that funeral prayers for Al-Qassim will be held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah after Friday prayers on August 8, 2025, with burial to follow at the Al-Shuhada Cemetery in Al-Shara'i district. According to the official medical report issued by British authorities, the 21-year-old student died instantly after receiving a single stab wound to the neck measuring 11.5 centimeters deep. The report noted that the weapon used is typically associated with homicide and confirmed that the attacker was fully conscious and acted with clear intent to kill. British prosecutors have charged the main suspect, Chaz Corrigan, with murder and possession of a bladed weapon in a public place. During the opening session at Cambridge Crown Court, Corrigan pleaded not guilty and claimed self-defense. The next court session is scheduled for September 8. Al-Qassim's body has since been released to his family and is expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Thursday for burial the following day.
