His remarks came after France's historic commitment to recognizing the State of Palestine. Abbas welcomed a message from French President Emmanuel Macron, who confirmed that France would officially recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in September. The Palestinian president praised this courageous step, which he said would contribute to establishing peace based on the two-state solution as outlined in international law. He emphasized that Macron's announcement marked a significant victory for the Palestinian cause and reflected France's dedication to supporting Palestinian rights and the legitimate claim to its land. Abbas urged the global community to follow suit, recognizing Palestine in accordance with international resolutions. Saudi Arabia has consistently supported the Palestinian cause, emphasizing its commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The kingdom has repeatedly stated that Palestine is its top priority, advocating for Palestinian rights in various international forums. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday described Macron's announcement as a "historic decision," reflecting global consensus on the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state. The statement reiterated Saudi Arabia's call for all countries yet to recognize Palestine to take similar steps, supporting peace and the rights of the Palestinian people. Saudi Arabia has also been a leading donor, providing approximately $5.5 billion in humanitarian and developmental aid for Palestine through 306 projects in various sectors.
