Israeli airstrikes kill at least 28 Palestinians in fresh attacks on homes and shelters across Gaza

At least 28 Palestinians were killed on Sunday in a series of Israeli airstrikes and artillery attacks across the Gaza Strip that targeted residential homes and displacement tents, according to medical sources and eyewitnesses.
In central Gaza's Nuseirat refugee camp, nine people — including women and children — were killed when an Israeli airstrike hit a residential home, a medical source told Anadolu Agency.
In the southern area of Khan Younis, an Israeli drone strike targeted a displacement tent in Al-Mawasi, killing a Palestinian woman and injuring four others, including children. Gaza's Civil Defense confirmed that rescue teams retrieved the woman's body and evacuated multiple wounded victims, including elderly civilians.
A separate Israeli airstrike struck a house in the Al-Farahin neighborhood of Khan Younis, though emergency crews were unable to reach the scene due to continued bombardment. Another attack in the city killed two more people and injured several others, according to medical reports.
In Rafah, Israeli artillery shells hit the Mawasi area, killing one person and wounding several. Five others were killed in a separate strike on eastern Rafah, witnesses said. Meanwhile, Israeli naval forces reportedly opened fire on the city's coastline; the extent of damage or injuries remains unclear.
In Gaza City, airstrikes on the Shejaiya neighborhood killed two people and wounded several more civilians. Five others died in a separate strike on the Al-Tuffah neighborhood. In the eastern Zeitoun neighborhood, a father and his child were killed in another strike, while artillery shelling in Beit Lahia killed a young man.
The latest wave of deadly attacks underscores the ongoing toll of the war, which has killed more than 51,200 Palestinians — most of them women and children — since the Israeli military campaign began in October 2023.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its military operations in the enclave. — Agencies
