Published in The Saudi Gazette on 28 - 01 - 2025

MADINAH — Prince Salman bin Sultan, Emir of Madinah Region, launched the "In the Prophet's Steps" project here on Monday.
The initiative recreates the historic route taken by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during his migration.
The project was inaugurated in a ceremony near Mount Uhud, attended by Prince Saud bin Mishal, Deputy Emir of Makkah Region, along with scholars and officials.
In a speech on the occasion, Prince Salman bin Sultan emphasized Saudi Arabia's commitment to preserving and developing the Two Holy Cities, reinforcing the country's efforts to serve the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.
He highlighted the numerous developmental projects aimed at strengthening the connection between visitors and the Prophet's biography, enriching their spiritual journey, and enhancing their overall experience.
The governor described the project as a testament to the leadership's dedication to historical Islamic sites.
He explained that it offers visitors the opportunity to trace the Prophet's steps and explore the landmarks associated with his great migration.
The project includes the restoration of 41 historical landmarks along a 470-kilometer route connecting Makkah and Madinah. It features five interactive stations that narrate the migration's key events, alongside a dedicated Migration Museum designed to educate visitors on this pivotal chapter of Islamic history.
Prince Salman emphasized that "In the Prophet's Steps" is part of broader efforts to rehabilitate and activate significant Islamic heritage sites. These initiatives reflect Saudi Arabia's commitment to promoting its rich religious and cultural legacy while ensuring an exceptional experience for visitors that blends spiritual depth with the Kingdom's authentic traditions.
Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority Turki Alalshikh stated that this project underscores the Kingdom's focus on showcasing its historical and civilizational heritage, as per the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
He confirmed that the "In the Prophet's Steps" experience will officially launch in November, lasting six months.
The initiative was meticulously developed in collaboration with relevant historical and governmental institutions to ensure accuracy and authenticity.
