King Salman highlights sport's unifying power as Saudi Arabia bids to host 2034 FIFA World Cup

RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has reinforced Saudi Arabia's commitment to hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing the Kingdom's belief in the transformative power of sport.
"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia believes in the importance of sport, its positive impact on lives and its effective role in strengthening ties among nations," King Salman said in his foreword. He highlighted sport's ability to encourage communication between different cultures and to form bridges between societies across the world.
King Salman pointed out that the bid aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which prioritizes investment in the sports sector. "Through its Vision 2030, which attaches great importance to investment in the sports sector, the Kingdom is pleased to submit its bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034," he declared.
The King expressed confidence in Saudi Arabia's ability to host an event of this magnitude. "Through its people's determination and spirit, the Kingdom has succeeded in consolidating its position as one of the most prominent international sports destinations," he said. He also affirmed the Kingdom's readiness to collaborate with the international community to host this significant sporting event, contributing to the development of football worldwide.
King Salman assured that Saudi Arabia's strengths and capabilities, combined with international cooperation, will help achieve mutual goals. "We are confident that the Kingdom's strengths and capabilities, alongside the international community's cooperation and efforts, will contribute to achieving our mutual goals," he emphasized.
Concluding his statement, King Salman expressed his vision for the future. "By working together, we will create a bright and remarkable future for the sport of football, and pass on a positive legacy that will extend beyond 2034," he said, underlining the lasting impact that hosting the World Cup would have on Saudi Arabia and the global football community.
