JEDDAH — Mohammad Akram of Jeddah Challengers slammed 102 against Mercedes Benz as Al-Mazroi-XI, New Young Stars, Orbital Horizon, ATS, Rapid Tech and Hala Academy White emerged winners in the Hyundai Naghi Summer Morning Champions Trophy here recently.
Mercedes Benz, batting first against Jeddah Challengers, lost two early wickets, but Saifu stabilized the innings with 50 in 28 balls (3 fours and a six), while Amir hit 35, Azhar 20, Habib Rajput remained unbeaten on 19 to take the total to 180-6. Tahir took 2-26, whereas Abu Bakr had 2-25.
Jeddah Challengers, in reply, found its openers in awesome touch as Mohammed Akram, also an U-19 Saudi player, blasted 102 in 57 balls (1 six and 14 fours), while Abu Bakr hit 5 fours to score 69 off 46 balls. The two put on 175 for the first wicket in 101 balls. Jeddah Challengers reached the target of 181 in 107 balls for the loss of two wickets.
In another match, Al-Mazroi-XI, taking the strike first against Stallions, scored 175-7. Farooq scored 56 in 32 balls with two sixes and 4 fours.
Hassan scalped 3-17, while Ali had 2-24. Stallions could only score 123 to lose the encounter by 52 runs. Hassan, exhibiting his fine all-round performance, scored 47 (8 fours). Abdullah took 3-2 and Sajid 2-7.
Batting first, Nesma Holding put on 117 against New Young Stars. Akram hit 18. Tayyab took 3-12 and Yasir 3-17. New Young Stars team was home in 74 balls (118-3) with 7 wickets in hand. Asaf remained unbeaten on 46, while Bilal contributed 23 and Arsalan 20.
Otex, using the track first against Orbital Horizon, posted 147-8. Talib Bhutta made 34, Imtiaz 23, Amjad 22 and Shahid 19. Shahid scalped 2-26. Orbital Horizon scored 149 for the loss of 6 wickets. Qasim remained unbeaten on 38, Faisal hit 25, Tahir 37 and Jamshed 21 not out. Amir grabbed 2-18 and Shahid 2-19.
ATS, batting first against Johnson Control, piled up 179-8. Naeem made 53 with a six and 4 fours, while Imran hit 31, Sameer 27 and Abid 22. Waseem accounted for 3-34, while Ahmed had 2-35. Johnson Control began the chase with opener Khubab plundering 73 in 41 balls (3 sixes and 7 fours), while Asad smashed 5 fours and two sixes to remain unbeaten on 57 in 22 balls. The team could score only 177-8 to lose the encounter by 2 runs as Dr. Basheer took 2-33.
Rapid Tech beat Kabbani CC by nine wickets. It achieved the target of 106 for the loss of 1 wicket in 54 balls. Inayat Hashmatullah scored an unbeaten 61 in 30 balls, while Mohammed Basid hit 35. Earlier, Imayat took 3 wickets for Rapid Tech.
Hala Academy White, batting first against Hanifa Tigers, racked up 190 for 6. Nauman scored 61 in 33 balls, Shahid hit 27, Mammoor 27 and Sohail 26. Sarfaraz took 2-18 and Ammar 2-24. Hanifa Tigers was bundled out for 119 as Omar Mehfooz hit 38 and Yasir 25. Furqan took 3-27 and Salah 2-22.
