Film AlUla expands creative hub with new state-of-the-art recording studio
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 26 - 02 - 2024

Film AlUla, the Royal Commission for AlUla's film agency, is expanding its creative footprint with the construction of a state-of-the-art recording studio, enhancing its already advanced studio complex.
Scheduled to open in June 2024, the new studio will feature 190 square meters of studio space, a 47-square meter control room, two isolation booths, and includes catering and rack room facilities.
Designed in collaboration with industry experts, the studio will cater to a wide range of audio recording needs, including work for individual artists, choirs, film rehearsals, music videos, and orchestral sessions.
It will be equipped with top-tier audio and recording technology to meet the demands of professional recording engineers and artists.
This initiative signals Film AlUla's entry into the music industry, further establishing its ambition to serve as a comprehensive creative hub.
The studio aims to attract creatives to the region's stunning landscapes and provide access to world-class production facilities.
The move aligns with Saudi Arabia's growing emphasis on cultural development, highlighted by the establishment of the Ministry of Culture, General Entertainment Authority, and Music Commission to foster the music sector.
AlUla is already a cultural beacon within the Kingdom, hosting the annual Azimuth festival and serving as the location for Maraya, a versatile venue that has featured performances by international stars such as Alicia Keys, Andrea Bocelli, and James Blunt.
The region's vibrant music scene is supported by both local and international talent, contributing to the dynamic cultural offerings of Saudi Arabia.
Charlene Deleon-Jones, executive director of Film AlUla, expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, emphasizing the studio complex's role in attracting creatives to AlUla.
The recording studio addition is part of Film AlUla's strategic vision to provide a comprehensive destination for creative projects, supported by the inspiring natural and historical backdrop of AlUla.
The studio complex's first phase included two 26,000 square foot soundstages, production facilities, and a 61,500-square foot backlot.
The development complements the Film AlUla Residence, which offers accommodation and office space for film crews, marking a significant step towards making AlUla a leading destination for film and music production. — SG
