LuLu Walkathon for Saudi Founding Day Heralds Sustainability Message

The LuLu Saudi Hypermarket organized the colourful and meaningful LuLu-Walkathon packed with energy, the to celebrate Saudi Founding Day and also drive home the message of sustainability. It was sponsored by Mastercard and partnered by Al Khobar Municipality and the Ministry of Sport.
The 3-kilometre Walkathon was organized in Al Khobar on February 17th, 2024 an enthusiastic participants came together to mark the biggest Walkathon in Saudi.
The day's activities were officially flagged off by Tarek Hamdi, the Saudi Youth Icon and Olympic Silver Medallist and and Eng. Mohammed Bubushait, Executive Manager of LuLu Saudi Hypermarket
There was a grand Ardah show to add a touch of Saudi tradition to the event and mark Saudi Founding Day.
The event's Pain Relief Partner was BIOFREEZE, Cool the pain; Strategic Partners were P&G; and Nakhlah, food industry company; Refreshment partner wasMentos; Digital partner was Yellow; Entertainment partner was Mahara karting. There were three Medical Partners: King Fahad Specialist Hospital – Dammam, RPM and the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.
The LuLu- Walkathon took place in the New Corniche Khobar and covered three kilometres of a scenic route in great February weather to drive home the message of sustainability. The LuLu Walkathon was dedicated to promoting the vision of the leadership of KSA, to put sustainable development on the growth agenda of the Kingdom and is packed with plenty of fun activities for participants.
All the participants were given kits containing tee shirts, caps and wristbands and water and the route will be manned by LuLu staff who will be on hand to help them.
During the walkathon, the cute walkathon mascot, a camel named Setah (meaning a person of great reputation) was available for selfies. The mascot also represented the Saudi move to celebrate the heritage and resilience of the camel by designating 2024 as The Year of the Camel. Participants were encouraged to upload their selfies with Setah with the hashtag #LuLu_Khobar_walkathon!# The person with the most viewed reel will win an awesome prize to be announced soon. LuLu had planned food and beverage stalls and a giant mural board where participants left freehand drawings or handprints.
"This was a fun way to enjoy the great climate and at the same time drive home the sustainability message," said LuLu Saudi Arabia Director, Mr. Shehim Mohammed, "All over the world, sustainability is an important building block for development that will safeguard our planet and our future generations. LuLu is deeply committed to making people aware of the need to adopt sustainability as their progress matrix. The LuLu Walkathon was a way to involve the community and embrace this message for our collective good."
