In the general elections in Pakistan, there was no definitive winner as claims of victory emerged from both the former ruling party, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), which supported independent candidates, and the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N). The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced on Saturday results for 250 of the National Assembly's seats, with 15 results pending. The PML-N emerged as the largest party with 71 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples' Party Parliamentarians secured 52 seats. Other parties such as the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan won 17 seats, the Pakistan Muslim League secured 3, and both the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan and the Istehkam e Pakistan party gained 2 seats each. Single seats were won by the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Z, and the Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen Pakistan. A significant number of independent candidates, largely supported by the PTI — which was barred from the elections due to internal party election discrepancies — won 99 seats. According to the Free and Fair Election Network, about 60 million of the over 128 million registered voters participated in the February 8th election.
