Kuwaiti Cabinet swears constitutional oath before parliament
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 29 - 01 - 2024

The Kuwaiti government on Monday swore oath before a special session for the National Assembly in accordance to article 91 of the constitution.
The prime minister and members of his Cabinet took the oath during the special parliamentary session to begin undertaking their tasks at Abdullah Al-Salem Hall, according to the Constitution 91st article.
The abovementioned constitutional provision says that a member of the Assembly, before starting performance in the parliament or its committees, swears in during an open door session of the assembly.
On Jan. 17, an Emiri Decree was declared, forming the new government under chairmanship of Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, grouping 13 ministers.
Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah hosted, at Bayan Palace on Jan, 17, the prime minister and the ministers, where they took the oath in front of him.
Last Sunday, an Emiri Order was issued appointing Sharida Al-Mousherji as the deputy prime minister and minister of state for Cabinet affairs. After his appointment, he took the oath in front of the Emir.
Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah expressed gratitude towards the trust bestowed by the country's leaderships, saying it was a huge responsibility to execute all ministerial duties with utmost diligence.
Speaking to the press after taking the constitutional oath at parliament, Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah — who is also Acting Minister of Interior — said the responsibilities "placed upon us" was great, and the Cabinet has to work toward achieving the aspiration of the people.
He stressed, "No one is above the law", affirming that the government would be fighting corruption through accountability.
The pivotal cooperation between legislative and executive authorities would ensure the best interest of the country and the people of Kuwait, he added.
He added, the security and stability of the country was a crucial factor, as it was significant to reform and improve the military establishments and the competence of the members.
National Assembly Speaker Ahmad Al-Saadoun inaugurated early on Monday the scheduled special session for the swearing in ceremony,
The session began with recitation of the Emiri Orders and Decrees concerning the formation of the government according to Provision 68 of the National Assembly's bylaw.
The session also saw the oath-taking ceremony by ministers who are not members of the parliament, as the Constitution Article 91 states. — KUNA
