Palestinian president accuses Israeli authorities of sabotaging the two-state solution
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 11 - 11 - 2023

RIYADH — President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine called upon the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and put an end to the ruthless Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
In his address at the extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, he emphasized the need for securing the entry of medical and food supplies, providing water, electricity, and fuel to Gaza, and preventing the displacement of Palestinians.
President Abbas said: "We will not accept military and security solutions, as all have failed."
He accused Israeli authorities of undermining the two-state solution, replacing it with intensified settlement activities, policies of annexation and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and Jerusalem, the blockade of Gaza, and violations of the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian sanctities.
He affirmed that the Palestinian Authority would continue to stand firm on its land and would not compromise on the legitimate rights of its people.
The president stressed that Gaza is an integral part of the State of Palestine, and any political solution must be comprehensive, covering the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza.
Calling on the Security Council to grant full membership to the State of Palestine, organize an international peace conference, and provide international protection for the Palestinian people, Abbas emphasized the importance of a political solution based on international legitimacy, the Arab Peace Initiative, ending the Israeli occupation of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and resolving the issue of Palestinian refugees according to UN Resolution 194.
He insisted on the necessity of international guarantees and a timeline for implementation.
President Abbas appealed for international support to enable Palestinian institutions to continue their tasks, including the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
He called for implementing previous summit resolutions on supporting the government budget and providing the financial safety net, especially in these critical circumstances.
Abbas emphasized the need to revive the Palestinian economy and expressed hope that this would happen as soon as possible.
Blaming Israeli authorities, their supporters, and protectors for the full responsibility of every child, woman, and Palestinian killed or wounded in this unjust war, Abbas pledged to pursue the occupiers in international forums, holding them accountable in international courts, even if they go to the ends of the earth.
He held the United States primarily responsible, given its significant influence on Israel, urging it to stop the Israeli aggression and work towards ending the Israeli occupation of our land, people, and sanctities.
He concluded by emphasizing the world's responsibility in facing the ongoing injustice, oppression, killings, and the absence of justice against the Palestinian people.
He called for international support to enable Palestinian institutions to continue their tasks, including the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
President Abbas affirmed "We are the rightful owners of the land, Jerusalem, and sanctities. The flag of Palestine will remain high and unite us, and the occupation will come to an end."
