Emir of Madinah receives Taibah University President Dr. Nawal Alrasheed

MADINAH — Emir of Madinah Region Prince Faisal bin Salman received Dr. Nawal Alrasheed, the newly appointed president of Taibah University, in Madinah on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Prince Faisal congratulated Dr. Alrasheed on this occasion, asking God Almighty to grant her success in the tasks entrusted to her. The Emir highlighted the importance of improving the educational environment at the university and expanding qualitative specializations that will contribute to building a conscious generation that participates in supporting the nation's renaissance and advancing the wheel of development, keeping pace with the aspirations of the Saudi leadership.
On her part, Dr. Nawal said that the university seeks to achieve academic and research excellence, and to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. "The university will work, in close cooperation with government agencies and bodies, led by the emirate of the region, to exchange experiences in order to enable it to perform the role assigned to it and work on its progress in a way that serves the investment of comparative advantages, enjoyed by the Madinah region," she said.
Dr. Nawal said that the university attaches utmost importance to developing its academic and training programs to meet the needs of the labor market and strengthen the scientific research system as a main tool for achieving progress in various fields and supporting economic and social development. "This is in accordance with its strategic plan through which it is undertaking its committed responsibility towards society, in addition to the constant search for the best policies, practices and work to implement them with a high degree of quality. The university also encourages creative ideas and solutions in all fields to serve society, achieve progress and sustainable development, and strengthen and develop the education sector," she pointed out.
Alrasheed thanked the Emir for the unlimited support that the university and its academic programs are receiving so as to enable it to enjoy serving the sons and daughters of the region.
Dr. Nawal,a renowned Saudi academic was appointed president of Taibah University last Wednesday. The Saudi Council of Universities' Affairs announced the issuance of the royal order to appoint Dr. Nawal as the new president of Taibah University. She is the first ever female president of a Saudi university.
Dr. Nawal served earlier in various capacities at the Riyadh-based Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, the world's largest university for women.
