RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's judicial authorities have revoked as many as 110 illegal title deeds of properties located on the Red Sea coast in Jeddah.
Okaz/Saudi Gazette has learned from well-informed sources that owners of these title deeds include princes, former ministers, businessmen and women, companies, government and private agencies, in addition to title deeds whose ownership is unknown.
According to the sources, the revocation orders were issued by the Supreme Court after closely examining the title deeds and coming to the conclusion with substantial evidence that these documents were extracted illegally and not based on approved regulations and hence necessitated their cancelation.
The revocation decision was taken after the completion of the entire judicial process in this regard. The sources pointed out that the Courts of Appeal detected legal and Shariah violations in the case of a number of title deeds. It took about two years to complete the exercise of examining and reviewing the canceled documents in view of the magnitude of the task through minutely checking the original transactions and old records.
The sources indicated that the judicial authorities were keen on ensuring the reliability of real estate deeds, and enhancing real estate security, as well as protecting the properties of the state while going through the entire process and laborious tasks.
According to sources, monitoring of the properties involving the revoked title deeds was carried out meticulously in line with the decision of the appeals courts, and according to the violations that were monitored by the notaries. The judicial authorities have decided to transfer the illegal properties from the category of red to the category of properties with revoked title deeds.
The sources stressed that competent authorities continue carrying out studies with regard to a number of other properties along the Jeddah seacoast, and in the event of detecting any violations, legal measures will be taken against them also.
