Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized that the Middle East Green Initiative represents an excellent opportunity to strengthen cooperation among its member states in order to mobilize more investments and provide new mechanisms for innovative financing to support projects undertaken by countries to address climate change. This can be done in coordination with Arab and regional financial institutions that play an important role in this regard. He added that the initiative also serves as an ideal framework for strengthening technical cooperation and connecting research institutions in member countries in order to promote integration of research and applied programs relevant to climate change technologies. In his speech at Middle East Green Initiative Summit, taking place within the activities of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), President El-Sisi said: "When Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman proposed holding the Middle East Green Initiative's second summit in Sharm El Sheikh alongside the Climate Summit, I came to the realization that it would be an appropriate platform. "It would be an opportunity to provide more information on this significant project that was started almost a year ago to address one of the necessary issues related to climate action in the Arab and Middle East region, which is more affected than other regions by the negative impacts of climate change on the quality of agricultural lands and soil fertility in addition to the steady rise in temperatures, water scarcity, and drought. — SPA
