King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) Monday, on the sidelines of the World Health Summit 2022 in Berlin, signed two agreements with the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF to prevent and combat the spread of measles and polio in several countries.
Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah signed the agreements with WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom and UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell.
The first agreement, signed with WHO, aims at preventing the spread of measles and polio in Somalia, Sudan and Iraq, benefiting 12,076,185 individuals with a value of $5 million.
The agreement also seeks to support the cooling chains to store vaccinations through electric generators or using solar panels, securing vaccination, medical devices and lab items, in addition to covering operational costs for vaccination campaigns and supporting the program through hiring experts from WHO.
Meanwhile, the second agreement signed with UNICEF aims at contributing to combating polio and measles in Congo, Central Africa, Guinea, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, benefiting 2,095,102 individuals with a value of $5 million.
