JEDDAH — Ukrainian professional boxer Oleksandr Usyk impressed world by retaining his titles after defeating Anthony Joshua at the Rage On The Red Sea in Saudi Arabia's Jeddah on Saturday.
Usyek won the game with an impressive and exciting match filled with enthusiasm and cheers from the fans.
The 35-year-old Usyk kept his WBA, WBO and IBF belts six months after serving in the Ukrainian army.
The historical rematch between the professional boxers has ended at the round 12 by split decision.
Thousand of boxing fans has attended the match at the King Abdullah Sports Stadium Arena in Jeddah. As millions spectators around the world has watched the game behind screens.
Joshua seemed so unrespectful with his attitude as soon as the game ended, as he was so angry left the arena, and then just threw the belts, he also yelled at his opponent after Usغk was trying to calm him down by saying he was a strong boxer, but anthony responded to that "I do not care about stronger, i have skills," adding" you are not stronger, how did you beat me? because of the skills you have"
But he immediately returned and began giving a speech, emotionally overwhelmed by his loss, recalling his story and his beginning in boxing and his imprisonment and then his effort to train him for himself.
"I'm a new breed of heavyweights," Joshua said in his speech as he also praised on Usyk' powerful performance, "This guy here is a phenomenal talent." he said.
Joshua then started chanting for Usyk with the fans, and then began to talk about the war in Ukraine.
It is noteworthy that Usyk has won over Joshua for the second time in a row, as he beated him last September in London. Joshua demanded a rematch with Usyk, which happened for the first time in the history of heavyweight competitions after 1999.
Usyek retained his WBA Super, IBF, WBO and IBO titles, as well as he also added an additional title, "the Ring Magazine" which the boxer Tyson Fury abandoned earlier this week.
The Rage On The Red Sea was attended by the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki.
The biggest rematch in boxing history has carried with it during this day several historical events taking place in the Kingdom, the first of which was the first women's boxing match in Saudi Arabia, in which Ramla Ali defeated her Dominican opponent Crystal Garcia Nova.
Additionally, the winning of the first Saudi professional boxer, Ziyad Al-Maayouf over his Mexican opponent Alfredo Alatorre on the first-round KO with a big knockout.
