RIYADH – Saudi Arabia's Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al-Muajab ordered on Thursday to quickly arrest a person who appeared in a video clip, being circulated on social media, assaulting a child in Wadi Al-Dawasir governorate in the Riyadh region. An official source at the Public Prosecution stated that its monitoring center had filed a complaint regarding the circulation of the content on social media, including the assault of a child by an individual. He said that an arrest warrant was issued on the basis of the provisions of the Criminal Procedures Law, adding that there are provisions in the law to refer such cases to the Public Prosecution for investigation, as well as to take penal measures and plead the court to award the most severe penalties for the crime. He pointed out that the penal systems guarantee high level of protection for the victimized child, and that the specialized prosecution in this case directed that the victim shall undergo psychological rehabilitation.
