JEDDAH — The Committee for the Random Neighborhoods in Jeddah has allotted 202 development housing units and paid rent for 13700 Saudi owners of raced properties in the random neighborhoods and slums that have been razed as part of the Jeddah redevelopment plan.
This was disclosed at a meeting held in the presence of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah and advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, at the emirate headquarters in Jeddah on Wednesday. Mayor of Jeddah Saleh Al-Turki, and the emirate's Undersecretary Dr. Mushabbab Al-Qahtani also attended the meeting.
Khaled Al-Faisal was briefed on the latest developments of the Jeddah redevelopment plan. He listened to the briefing on the latest position in the implementation of the project.
The emir reviewed the free government services being provided by the government agencies to the residents of razed slums, most notably housing and payment of rent for 13,737 families, and the allotment of 202 developmental housing units. The total services provided to the beneficiaries reached 85,000, including food baskets, water, meals, medicines, infant formula, and transportation of household appliances. A total of 213 male and female citizens who were registered in social security were provided with jobs through empowerment programs formulated for those citizens affected by the demolition of properties.
The Jeddah Mayoralty, in cooperation with the State Properties General Authority, is receiving requests for compensation from the owners of razed properties through the mayoralty's digital portal. There is no need to personally contact the headquarters of the committee though it continues receiving requests at its field headquarters. The committee had disclosed earlier that compensation will be for land and rubble if the owners produce ownership documents. In the event of failure to submit the original document, only compensation for rubble will be paid.
Last month, the Authority started handing over the first installment of compensation for owners of razed properties and that amounted to SR1 billion. The payment to the rest of the citizens will be paid in a phased manner in accordance with a timeline after the completion of the work of listing and evaluating the properties and collecting the documents such as a copy of the title deed or legal document; owner's data and copy of the national ID, and the IBAN number of the bank account, clearances from the Saudi Electricity Company, the National Water Company, the Social Development Bank, the Agricultural Development Fund, and the Real Estate Development Fund, a copy of the legal agency of the agent and a copy of his national identity, in addition to a copy of the electricity and water bill, a photo of the building if any, and an aerial photo of the site or any other photos, if any, and the building evacuation documentation number. These documents shall be sent through the service of receiving requests for compensation for the removal of slums through the Jeddah Municipality's digital portal www.jeddah.gov.sa.
Out of a total of 32 neighborhoods, razing of 28 neighborhoods has already been completed while the removal of the remaining four neighborhoods such as Al-Muntaziat; Quwaizah; Al-Adl and Al-Fadl; and Umm Al-Salam and Kilo 14 North, is expected to be completed by the end of October. The first phase of the removal included 32 neighborhoods while the development of 32 other neighborhoods will be carried out without their demolition in the second phase.
