Published in The Saudi Gazette on 25 - 06 - 2022

MAKKAH — The Makkah Municipality announced that it has offered a service through Baladi platform for restaurant owners to enable them to issue permits for animal sacrifices (adahi).
The municipality said that the permit would enable restaurant owners to perform the acts of slaughtering animals as sacrifice on the days of Eid Al-Adha from Dhul Hijjah, 10 to 13, corresponding to July 9 to 12.
It also noted that restaurant owners would be able to issue the permit until Dhul Hijjah, 5, corresponding to July 4 without fees, according to several conditions, including:
1 - The validity of the commercial license for the restaurant or kitchen.
2 - The restaurant or kitchen must have a health certificate for employees.
3 - It is important to adhere to cleanliness in areas of slaughtering and skinning animals.
4 - The slaughtering process must be organized.
6 - It is necessary not to accumulate slaughtered animals in the designated place.
7 - Restaurants, kitchens must install a prominent board in which the price of slaughter is determined.
The Makkah Municipality confirmed that the aim of the service is to issue permits to keep pace with the need for the sacrifices and the service during the Hajj season.
The service also aims to lighten the burden the establishments' owners and their customers according to specific municipal requirements that contribute to providing the service in an orderly and healthy manner, the Makkah Municipality said.
It is worth mentioning that the sacrifice is defined as what a Muslim slaughters of animals during the days of Eid Al-Adha, as this process is one of the legitimate rituals of Islam on which Muslims are unanimously agreed.
It is the slaughter of a specific animal with the intention of getting close to God Almighty at a specific time during the days of Eid Al-Adha until the last days called (the days of Al-Tashreeq), which are the 11th, 12th, and 13th days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah.
The sacrifice has certain conditions that must be fulfilled, including: it must be an animal of livestock, such as camels, cows and sheep; of specific age; and it is stipulated that it be free from defects.
