Published in The Saudi Gazette on 29 - 03 - 2022

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) Tuesday signed a cooperation agreement with UNICEF, which aims at supporting Yemeni children's accessibility to good educational opportunities with a total value of $7 million.
Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah and UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell represented their respective sides in signing the agreement.
The agreement stipulates building a multi-aspect educational strategy for children affected by the conflict and displaced children to ensure they receive good education in safe educational environments, and for the children to receive necessary support to continue their education with psychological and physical welfare necessary to develop the knowledge and educational skills to prepare for a better future.
This is in addition to offering training programs to build up the capabilities of teachers in dealing with children in cases of conflicts and disasters, enhancing awareness on the importance of education, encouraging parents to resend their children to schools to build their future through education.
These benefits are expected to assist 578,000 children, 7,000 teachers and 540,000 individuals of the Yemeni society in all governorates.
Dr. Al Rabeeah stressed that the agreement is an extension of efforts by Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, to support the educational sector in Yemen, as part of its keenness to develop this important and vital sector.
This sector is considered a main driver for the prosperity of societies and a main element towards the progress of nations and realizing decent living conditions for its individuals, stressing that KSrelief, in partnership with UNICEF, will always continue to support Yemeni children and provide them with support in all fields.
He also praised the close cooperation between the center and UNICEF that played a real effect in the field of humanitarian work through helping millions of children in Yemen and other countries that both work in.
Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, has implemented 26 educational projects in all Yemeni governorates with a total value of around $122 million, in addition to implementing several joint ventures with UN and international organizations to support the educational sector in Yemen. — SPA
