Islamic foreign ministers condemn terrorist attacks against Saudi Arabia, UAE
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 24 - 03 - 2022

The Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the terrorist attacks against Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, welcoming UN Security Council Resolution No. 2624, which classified the Houthi group as a "terrorist organization".
Expressing solidarity with the Yemeni people, the meeting called for an immediate cessation of attacks targeting the civilians, sexual violence against children, their recruitment and exploitation and the use of landmines. They also called on the removal of obstacles to the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Yemeni people.
The ministers and heads of delegations participating in the declaration issued by the 48th session of the Council of FMs of the Member States of the OIC entitled "Partnership for Unity, Justice and Development" also expressed their concern about the intensification of geopolitical competition, the race armaments, the humanitarian and climate crises and the social and economic inequalities with their negative effects on peoples and the global political, security and economic system.
The 48th session of the Council of OIC FMs concluded on Wednesday in the Pakistani capital Islamabad after two days of deliberations.
Arab League
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of Arab League (AL) Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed great concern that the crises of the Arab region would be forgotten or ignored in light of the current tense international situation.
In his speech on Wednesday)before the Security Council on cooperation between the Security Council and the Arab League, Aboul Gheit cautioned that these crises would not find their way to a solution on their own, but rather the international situation might inflame and complicate them further.
The Arab region is still suffering from the consequences of the major shock that it experienced in 2011, and there are still conflicts raging within countries with all the humanitarian costs, economic drain and threat to regional security in our region, he said.
Aboul Gheit pointed out that in Yemen, the Houthi militia is still rejecting the principle of negotiation and a political settlement of the crisis, and instead, it resorted to threatening its neighbors with drones and ballistic missiles. He praised the Security Council Resolution 2624, which was adopted and imposed more sanctions on Houthi militia after designating it a terrorist organization.
The Arab League Secretary-General stressed that Iranian interference in Arab affairs never stopped, and that Arab countries are highly concerned over Iranian policy in the region.
Attack on oil tankers
In Cairo, the Arab Parliament strongly condemned the terrorist Houthi attack against oil tankers that crossed Bab-el-Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea where the Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Forces confronted them successfully.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Arab Parliament warned against the danger of terrorist attacks on oil tankers, as they target energy sources, especially in light of the turmoil in global oil markets as a result of global events.
It called on the international community to play its role and act immediately to prevent any shortage of energy supplies at the global level, citing Saudi Arabia's warning that the Houthi attacks targeting its oil facilities constitute a threat to oil supplies in global markets.
In Manama, Bahrain has strongly condemned the failed attempts by the terrorist Houthi militia to carry out a hostile attack using two booby-trapped boats in the southern Red Sea, in a desperate attempt to threaten the security of maritime navigation and global trade lines.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended the efficiency and readiness of the coalition forces to support legitimacy in Yemen in thwarting the hostile Houthi attack. — SPA
