Al-Fadhli to inaugurate Environment Week in Riyadh
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 19 - 03 - 2022

The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli will inaugurate in Riyadh Sunday the activities and exhibition of the Environment Week, under the slogan "Our Environment is Our Responsibility", which aims to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment.
The exhibition will also spread environmental culture, consolidate quality of life goals, activate the role of institutions and various government agencies in preserving the environment, raise the responsibility of individuals towards the environment, and maintain environmental balance per the objectives of Vision 2030.
This year's event includes several activities in 21 regions and cities in the Kingdom, where the Ministry will be organizing field activities and awareness-raising interactive pavilions that include various events including theatrical performances and workshops, to introduce visitors to the environmental components in various regions of the Kingdom.
Through these events, the ministry seeks to strengthen community partnerships with various sectors, including the regions, ministries and their various branches, public and private universities, private sector companies, and non-profit sectors.
The activities and events that the Ministry is planning to hold this year in various regions will vary throughout the whole week, as the capital, Riyadh, will host the most prominent events through a large interactive seven-day exhibition to be inaugurated by Eng. Al-Fadhli in "The Arena" (Granada Square).
The exhibition will highlight several pillars on vegetation cover, combating desertification, wild and marine wildlife, environment explorer, waste management, pollution, meteorology, and environmental protection, awareness-raising plays and activities for children, as well as meetings with environmental centers and associations.
This year's activities will be accompanied by the takeoff of the "Environment Hackathon", a new event that brings together stakeholders, officials, and specialists in the environmental sector.
They will gather to discuss trends, challenges, opportunities, and priorities to develop the environment sector, with the participation of professionals and amateurs of digital solutions, emerging and modern technologies, under the supervision and follow-up of the Ministry, via the link http://hackathon.mewa.gov.sa.
The Environment Week reflects the efforts aimed at achieving the objectives of the Kingdom's 2030 environmental vision.
This is in addition to raising the level of environmental awareness among all segments of society, through which social responsibility will be strengthened by consolidating the importance of the society's role in preserving the environment, in addition to highlighting the Environment Week as an annual national event observed by individuals and sectors with different expertise. — SPA
