Pakistan's leading fast bowler Mohammad Asif has been ruled out of next month's one-day series against Bangladesh.
Coach Geoff Lawson told reporters that Asif was not ready to play in the five-match series starting on April 8 because he has not completed his rehabilitation following elbow surgery in Australia two months ago.
“Everybody else is fit for Bangladesh and that is a big bonus for us. Asif hopefully is also not too far away from playing again,” Lawson said.
Asif has not played since October due to the elbow problem which also forced him to miss the 2007 World Cup.Rasel recalled
Bangladesh Tuesday recalled medium pacer Syed Rasel for the upcoming five match one-day series and Twenty20 clash against Pakistan.
The selectors have added the left-armer to the team that whitewashed Ireland 3-0 this month as conditions in Pakistan demand at least three pacemen in the squad, Bangladesh Cricket Board spokesman Rabeed Imam said.
Bangladesh squad: Mohammad Ashraful (captain), Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique, Aftab Ahmed, Nazim Uddin, Shahriar Nafees, Shakib Al Hasan, Dhiman Ghosh, Abdur Razzak, Mahmudullah Riad, Shahadat Hossain, Syed Rasel, Farhad Reza, Roqibul Hassan.
Pakistan Monday announced the itinerary for the tour, arranged after Australia cancelled their series over security fears.
Bangladesh, who agreed to fill the gap in Pakistan's home season, will arrive on April 6 and play the first one-day international at Lahore two days later.
They also play matches at Faisalabad, Multan and Karachi.
The Twenty20 match will be held at Karachi on April 20.
Tour itinerary: April 8 - First ODI, Lahore (D/N); April 11 - Second ODI, Faisalabad (D/N); April 13 – Third ODI, Lahore (D/N); April 16 – Fourth ODI, Multan (D/N); April 19 - Fifth ODI, Karachi (D/N); April 20 - Twenty20 international, Karachi (D/N).Ashraful fined
Bangladesh has fined captain Mohammad Ashraful and three others for breaching the team's code of conduct, a senior Bangladesh cricket official said on Monday. Ashraful was fined 25 percent of his salary for the month of March for hitting a fan during a practice session in Dhaka eight days ago.
Pacers Mashrafe Mortaza and Syed Rasel and spinner Abdur Razzak were also fined 20 percent of their salary for playing in a domestic tournament without permission from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The BCB also warned pacer Shahadat Hossain for making gestures toward the spectators.Lanka revises India tour
Sri Lanka said Wednesday it had been forced to change the itinerary for India's tour of the island later this year because of a lack of hotel rooms due to a summit of South Asian leaders in Colombo.
The first Test, which was originally scheduled to be held in Galle, will now be played at the Sinhalese sports club in Colombo, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a release.
Galle will hold the second Test, while the third will be played at the Premadasa stadium in the Sri Lankan capital.
India will also play five one-day internationals against the hosts after the Test series. __
