Yemen scholars conclude forum with call for more efforts to end Houthi coup
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 11 - 01 - 2022

A Yemeni scholars and preachers forum concluded in Riyadh on Monday in the presence of Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh and Yemeni Minister of Awqaf and Guidance Mohammed Aidah Shabibah, along with several scholars and preachers.
The forum titled "Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Confronting Iranian Houthi Extremism and Terrorism", was organized by the Program for Communication with Yemeni Scholars, an affiliate of the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance.
In the final communiqué of the forum, scholars conveyed their gratitude to and appreciation of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince for their historical positions supporting Yemen and its people in all fields, praising Saudi Arabia's true position in supporting the legitimate Yemeni government in facing the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
While calling for exerting more efforts to end the battle, they voiced gratitude to and appreciation of Yemen's President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi and the legitimate government members for their efforts in retrieving state institutions and ending the Houthi coup.
The communiqué also praised Al Al-Sheikh's announcement to continue supporting scholars and preachers to move ahead with the awareness work in facing Houthi campaigns that try to tamper with the faith of Yemenis.
It stressed the important role of scholars and preachers in exerting more awareness efforts and expose the dangers of terrorism and extremism on Yemen and the entire region, while calling for utilizing media outlets, modern media platform and all possible means to perform their religious and national role.
The communiqué also condemned the recurrent Houthi attacks on civilians and civil objects, the use of ballistic missiles and bomb-laden drones in targeting Yemeni and Saudi cities and the terrorist operations that target ships and water passages, as well as the terrorist acts perpetrated against the Yemeni people. It praised the national army, popular resistance and all military units that offer historical heroic sacrifices in defending Yemen. — SPA
