UNESCO praises Madrasati's platform success as 'globally innovative educational model'
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 02 - 12 - 2021

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) praised the success of the Madrasati platform as a globally innovative and distinguished educational model during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Madrasati platform has been described by the UNESCO as the leading Saudi model and has achieved global recognition, ministry of education said in a statement on Thursday.
In mid-November, UNESCO released a recent book on "Learning to Build back Better Futures for Education: Lessons from Educational Innovations during the COVID-19 Pandemic,"
The UNESCO' book has been edited by Harvard Education Professor Fernando Reimers and Renato Opertti from UNESCO's International Bureau of Education (IBE) in Geneva, and authored by International researchers.
The editors dealt with educational innovations in the world, where they dedicated a special chapter on the Madrasati platform, and the success of the distance education experience in the Kingdom.
The book reviewed in its 12th chapter, the model of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in using the Madrasati e-learning platform as an innovative model for education during the pandemic, and other educational alternatives provided by the Kingdom such as the satellite broadcasting school, and the iEN Enrichment Portal.
The book answers the most important questions, such as:
- Continuing the educational process without stopping despite the challenges of the Corona pandemic.
- The efforts of teachers and the size of training they received.- Parents' satisfaction with the extent to which teachers interacted with their students.
- Ease of use and providing enriching content for students.
- Spreading the culture of innovation and digital skills among students, with the participation of 4,7 million students in the "Madrasati Coding Competition".
- Fostering partnership with families and community institutions in spreading the culture of e-learning.
- The partnership of Madrasati platform with Microsoft.
- The solidarity program from the non-profit sector to support students with low incomes.
- The activation of the Madrasati platform during the summer vacation.
It is noteworthy that the Kingdom's experience in distance education during the Covid-19 pandemic has been praised by many international educational organizations. - SG
