Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman said that Saudi Arabia aspires to lead many developed countries, including the United States and Russia, in carbon solutions. Saudi Arabia will neither be part of the carbon emission problem nor be satisfied with being only part of the solution, he said while stressing that the Kingdom aspires to lead in these solutions as it has the ability to do so. The minister made the remarks after inaugurating the Circular Carbon Economy Symposium organized by the Industrial Development Fund here. "The Kingdom has recorded progress in reducing carbon emissions as one of the largest hydrocarbon producers in the world. The figures showed that the Kingdom is an example for other hydrocarbon-producing countries as it stands significantly ahead of others in terms of methane emissions," he pointed out. The minister referred to what the Kingdom has done since 1970s by capturing methane and using it in its huge petrochemical company in Yanbu to manufacture some products from the refining and petrochemical sector, stressing that all these things have taken place without loss. He pointed out that the Kingdom has captured gas and benefited from it, saying that the figures confirm the Kingdom's superiority over many countries, within OPEC and outside, such as Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Brazil and Venezuela.
