RIYADH — Periodic maintenance works of vehicles done in workshops not belonging to the vehicle's agent do not take away the vehicle owner's warranty right with the agent, the Ministry of Commerce has clarified. Abdul Rahman Al-Hussein, the spokesman of the ministry, said that the consumer has the right to choose to get periodic maintenance work done at the authorized agent or other maintenance centers. Al-Hussein said that for the safety of the consumer, he must choose the maintenance center in accordance with the vehicle's driving distance to perform its periodic maintenance. "These maintenance points should be those which are mentioned in the owner's manual. The consumer shall keep with him invoices of maintenance in order to ensure the continuity of the warranty, in a way that preserves the rights of the consumer and ensures the safety of the vehicle," he added.
