RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health recorded on Saturday 1,098 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, 200 less than Friday's figure of 1,298. According to a statement from the ministry, 15 more people died due to complications caused by the virus. This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 508,521 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,063. The ministry also said that a total of 1,207 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 489,553. The Riyadh region reported the highest number of new cases with 258, followed by the Makkah region with 211, the Eastern region with 128 and the Asir region with 124 infections. The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just one of them reporting less than 10 infections. According to the ministry, there were 10,905 active cases and 1,386 of them were in critical condition.
