Saudi Arabia ranks first in three global indicators on addressing COVID-19 pandemic
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 20 - 06 - 2021

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranked first worldwide in three international indicators, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the peak of the pandemic.
According to the National Center for Performance Measurement (Adaa), which monitors and follows on the global indicators announced periodically, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranked first in the response of entrepreneurs to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the government response in supporting entrepreneurs, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) report for 2020-2021.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has continued advancing in global indicators, maintaining its high ranking in the "Food Standards" index, which is a subcomponent of the Global Food Security Index, achieving first place worldwide in 2020.
The Global Food Security Index (GFSI) is issued annually by the Economic Intelligence Unit, covering areas related to food security in a country and causes of food insecurity. GFSI also measures dietary quality and diversity as well as food safety during 2020.
It includes sub-indicators. In these indicators Saudi Arabia also ranked first. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia advanced to the 8th place, during the peak of the pandemic, in the self-sufficiency of food supply index among a set of 113 countries.
Saudi Arabia also surpassed 105 countries in the growth of grain and vegetable production, advancing nine ranks, compared to 2019.
As for the safety of crops post-harvest and before consumption, the Kingdom has made progress among the top 20 countries worldwide.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was also able to advance in most of the indicators of the Global Soft Power Index. Saudi Arabia advanced over 85 countries in addressing the novel Coronavirus pandemic, ranking 20th globally in the Brand Finance report.
The results of Saudi Arabia's response to the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrate the positive impact of the Saudi Vision 2030 in the development and progress of the Kingdom in global indicators.
Adaa, through an international performance platform, is monitoring and following up on global indicators that highlight Saudi Arabia's progress, comparing Saudi Arabia's performance with more than 217 countries in more than 700 global performance indicators. — SPA
