Eng. Al-Hogail named president of UITP in Brussels
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 20 - 06 - 2021

The International Federation of Public Transport (UITP), at its General Assembly held here, has announced that Eng. Khalid Bin Abdullah Al-Hogail has been elected as the new president of UITP, after winning the presidential elections that took place recently.
Winning the post reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's leading position in the field of transportation through the mega projects being implemented.
The appointment of Eng. Al-Hogail as president of UITP also demonstrates Saudi Arabia's great interest in establishing and developing the transport system to enhance the quality of life by providing modern transport networks within the programs of Saudi Vision 2030, making Saudi Arabia a global logistics hub with at least three cities among the top 100 cities in the world.
Eng. Al-Hogail, as a member of the board of directors and the team of Saudi Arabia Public Transport Company (SAPTCO), has contributed to improving the transport system in the Kingdom, through providing different services, keeping pace with the developments of the transport sector worldwide and attracting global partnerships and forming international alliances to provide numerous transport services such as public transport, educational transportation, shared transport and self-driving buses.
All these efforts have resulted in SAPTCO's winning two contracts for the operation and maintenance of Riyadh buses and the Riyadh Metro within the competition of King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport, one of the largest transport projects in the world.
He is currently the managing director and CEO of SAPTCO, and chairman of the Board of the Saudi French Public Transport Company (PTC) and the Saudi Emirates Integrated Transport Company (SEITCO).
Established in 1885, the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), is the only worldwide network to bring together all public transport stakeholders and all sustainable transport modes. It includes more than 1,800 authorities and organizations from more than 100 countries, represented by more than 16,000 members. — SPA
