COVID-19 active cases top 11,000 for first time in months as KSA records 1,236 new infections

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health recorded on Friday 1,236 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, marking a slight drop from Thursday's figure of 1,309.
The ministry reported 15 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.
This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 471,959 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,650.
The ministry also recorded 1,050 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 453,259.
The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 372, followed by the Riyadh region with 240, the Eastern region with 213, and the Asir region with 115 infections.
The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two of them reporting less than 10 infections.
According to the ministry, there were 11,050 active cases and 1,496 of them were in critical condition.
