JEDDAH — The United States has joined the global condemnation of the Houthi militia attack on a school in Saudi Arabia's Asir region on Sunday. The armed drone fired by the Iran-backed militia from inside Yemeni territories landed on a school without causing any injuries. The US Department of State issued a statement on Monday denouncing the Houthi attack. "We strongly condemn the Houthi drone attack that struck and damaged a school in the Asir Region of Saudi Arabia. Such attacks threaten civilians, including schoolchildren. We join other nations in condemning the attack and call on the Houthis to commit to a lasting ceasefire," the statement read. Ambassador of France to Saudi Arabia Ludovic Pouille also condemned the drone attack on his official Twitter account, saying: On behalf of the French Embassy in Saudi Arabia, I strongly condemn this horrible, cowardly and brutal attack on a place dedicated to science, knowledge and education, where future generations are brought up." Saudi Arabia's Gulf allies also strongly condemned the Houthi attack targeting a school. In a statement issued by the foreign ministry on Sunday, the UAE reiterated that these recurrent systematic terror attacks by the Houthis reflect their blatant disregard for the international community and all international laws and norms. The ministry urged the international community to take an immediate and decisive stance to stop these recurrent acts, which target critical infrastructure and threaten the security and stability of the Kingdom, as well as global energy supplies. It also emphasized that the continued threat of these attacks in recent days is a grave escalation that represents new evidence of these militias' attempts to undermine security and stability in the region. The UAE renewed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia over these subversive terrorist attacks and reiterated its stance against all threats to the Kingdom's security and stability. The UAE also underscored its support for all measures taken by Saudi authorities to maintain the safety and security of its citizens and residents. The statement stressed that the security of the UAE and that of Saudi Arabia are indivisible and that any threat facing the Kingdom is considered a threat to the security and stability of the UAE. In a statement on Monday, Bahrain's foreign ministry denounced the repeated and systematic attack targeting safe civilians and civil objects in violation of international humanitarian law. It affirmed Bahrain's full support for Saudi Arabia and all the measures it takes to confront the terrorist Houthi militia and its criminal acts. It also called on the international community to condemn such repeated terrorist attacks that impede efforts aimed at maintaining regional security and stability. Kuwait's foreign ministry stated that these terrorist attacks represent a threat to the security of Saudi Arabia and the region's stability, and "are a challenge to the international community's efforts to put a stop to the conflict in Yemen." It added that these attacks are also a breach of international humanitarian and international laws Kuwait extended it total support for all measures Saudi Arabia takes to ensure its security, stability and sovereignty.
