Published in The Saudi Gazette on 08 - 06 - 2021

JEDDAH — The "Jeddah Super Dome" located in Western Saudi Arabia, occupies the top place as the biggest pillar-less dome in the world.
It is located on Madinah Road, west of King Abdullah Sports City, with an internal area exceeding 24,000 sq. meters, a height of 46 meters, a diameter of 210 meters, and parking lots that can accommodate 5,200 cars, during the hosting of events and conferences.
The Emir of Makkah Province Prince Khaled Al-Faisal is scheduled on the forthcoming Wednesday to launch the Digital Exhibition for the Region's Projects and Accompanying Events, at Jeddah Dome.
A statement issued by the Emirate in Makkah Province said on Sunday that for the first time, the concluding session of the Emirate's programs and events would be combined in one week, and held once annually.
All the government, private and societal authorities in the region are taking part in the event, which will be interspersed with a variety of events, competitions and programs.
According to the statement, the exhibition will present the audience with digital shows highlighting the accomplishments made and the development projects adopted by the region's Emirate in building man and developing the place.
The government and private sectors in the region participated in carrying them out. They represent the outcomes of the region's development strategy, which was launched by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal some 14 years ago.
The government and private sectors took part in drawing up their vision. For the first time, at the level of the Kingdom's regions, the sons of the province played an effective and pivotal role in laying down the development strategic plan for their region.
The statement said that the one-week exhibition would witness the launch of the Makkah Days for Programming and Artificial intelligence (AI). It is one of the pioneering initiatives for Makkah Cultural Forum, in its 5th round entitled "How can we become the leaders in the digital world".
The participants in the event include teams of male and female students from the universities of King Abdulaziz, Umm Al-Qura, Jeddah, Taif, and the University of Business and Technology, apart from specialists and academics in the fields of technology, software, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The participants will compete in innovating technological solutions and programs that will contribute to uplifting the Hajj, Umrah, tourism and recreation sectors, such that this has a positive impact on the services provided.
The competitions will be interspersed with a diagnosis of the positive aspects including specifying them, with the objective of enhancing and developing them such that they keep pace with the fast tempo of development in all aspects of technology.
At the same time, this will contribute to enabling the services being provided to rise to the standard that meets the hopes and ambitions.
The statement added that the exhibition would host a number of health cadres from the region and its governorates so as to honor them, in appreciation for their heroic role in countering the coronavirus pandemic.
The exhibition will also witness dialogue sessions, in which discussions will focus on a number of subjects, including information and media aspects and the impact of the technology boom on them, as well as developing the fields of services, development and Artificial Intelligence (AI), among others.
