Yemeni information minister warns of more Houthi militia's attacks in Red Sea
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 31 - 05 - 2021

Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Mu'amar Al-Eryani has warned of an escalation in Houthi militia terrorist attacks in the Red Sea region.
In a statement carried by Yemen's Saba News Agency, Al-Eryani said that the Houthi militia attacks using explosive-laden boats in the Red Sea, and though usually successfully intercepted by the coalition forces, reconfirm the huge danger still posed by the Houthi militia against security and safety of trade ships and marine navigation in one of the most important waterways of the world.
He pointed out that the militia uses Hodeida, Salif and Ras Isa ports as bases for launching terrorist attacks by booby-trapped boats in contradiction of the Stockholm Agreement and, at the same time, in implementation of the Iranian agenda of spreading chaos and terrorism in the region.
Al-Eryani called upon the international community, the United Nations, permanent member states of the Security Council, and UN and United States envoys to Yemen to denounce these attacks and take serious action against such terrorist acts, which do not target Yemen's security and stability alone but also international security and peace and world's interests.
In another development, the Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak met with the French ambassador to Yemen, Jean-Marie Safa, to discuss political developments in Yemen and the efforts made to achieve peace.
During the meeting, the Yemeni foreign minister expressed his country's appreciation for the efforts made by France for resolving the crisis.
Despite the Houthi militia's bid to block peace efforts, the Yemeni government will continue to make unremitting efforts to achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people for a just, lasting and comprehensive peace, he added.
The meeting also touched on the ongoing Houthi aggression against the Marib governorate, which has resulted in the displacement of millions of people.
The Yemeni foreign minister underlined the importance of messages being sent by the international community about the necessity of the Houthi aggression to end.
Ibn Mubarak stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to solve the issue of the Safer oil tank and obligating the Houthi militia to allow the UN technical team to access the reservoir to assess its condition, pointing to the environmental and humanitarian danger that the reservoir poses to Yemen and the region. — SG
