RIYADH — Saudi Arabia and Greece have decided to strengthen ties through tourism and travel facilitation between the two countries, the Saudi Press agency reported. On the sidelines of the global "Tourism Recovery Summit, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb and his Greek counterpart Harry Theoharis signed a joint action plan here on Thursday in recognition of the importance of tourism in the economic development of both countries. The joint action plan has been prepared with the aim of strengthening cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Greece in the following areas: exchange of best practices in the field of tourism promotion, the development of specialized tourism such as medical tourism, shopping tourism, luxury tourism, sport, and adventure tourism and gastronomic tourism. The action plan also calls for encouraging investment across the tourism system, exchanging knowledge about tourism legislation, including licensing and classification procedures, strengthening air connectivity between Athens and Riyadh in addition to other pivotal airports, and the continuation of active participation in multilateral activities. The two ministers stressed the importance of establishing mechanisms for mutual use of vaccination certificates in order to promote safe and smooth travel between the two countries.
