RIYADH — In a humanitarian gesture, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman have signed up for the organ donation program carried out by the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation (SCOT). The gesture is part of the great care that patients with end-stage organ failure receive from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince, reflecting the leadership's encouragement for all citizens and residents to register in the organ donation program. The initiative also attaches great importance in giving hope to patients whose lives depend on the transplantation of a new organ in compliance with the words of God Almighty ("Whosoever saves a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind). The Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation (SOTC), which was previously known as the National Kidney Foundation, was established by King Salman to implement a cadaveric organ transplant program and to coordinate the renal care facilities in the Kingdom. It was later renamed SOTC in order to encompass the transplantation of organs other than the kidney as well.
