RIYADH — The King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve in Riyadh launched an initiative to preserve the cleanliness of the reserve, and this is in cooperation with the Special Forces for Environmental Security (SFES). A large number of young Saudi men and women participated in the initiative, which aims to promote the values of responsibility and cooperation, as well as to make environmental preservation a permanent characteristic feature of the members of the society. As many as 48 male and female volunteers participated in the cleaning drive launched at the Tanhah nursery, which is the largest in the Kingdom in terms of area and is affiliated to the reserve. During the drive, three tons of waste was removed. A total of 22 volunteers participated in Al-Khafs nursery campaign during which about 1.5 tons of waste were removed, in addition to disposing three tons of waste in Nora nursery with the participation of 38 volunteers. It is noteworthy that the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve recently launched the first phase of its afforestation campaign, aiming to plant 500,000 seedlings. The campaign is being carried out, in cooperation with SFES and the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification. The first phase of the reserve's afforestation campaign includes the planting of 100,000 seedlings. The afforestation project in the reserve consists of seven phases, targeting the cultivation of 500,000 seedlings, which will be irrigated by water harvesting method. King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve is a natural reserve located in the Riyadh region in an area covering 15700 square kilometers. It was established in June 2018, and its development is supervised by an administrative body headed by Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Naif.
