RIYADH — Assistant Minister of Health and the Ministry Spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali said that 55 percent of COVID-19 infections are among women in the Kingdom. "There has also been a surge in the number of women who have been admitted to intensive care units after their conditions turned critical," the spokesman said. Addressing the daily press briefings, Abdel Ali said that the epidemiological indicators showed an increase in infections to higher levels than they were at the beginning of the year 2021. The effectiveness and safety of vaccines is higher, he said while urging everyone to come forward to receive the vaccine jabs. According to the spokesman, the turnout for vaccination among women was below the expected level. "We hope they will take the initiative to receive the vaccine, as the condition of all those who have previously taken it, both male and female from different target age groups, is reassuring and have not developed any health problems or unexpected symptoms so far," he said. Dr. Abdel Ali said that the total number of doses that have been administered since the start of vaccination in the Kingdom until Sunday reached 7,069,257 doses. More than 6.2 million people have so far received vaccine jabs in the Kingdom, he added.
