Crown Prince discusses 'Green Initiatives' with Gulf and regional leaders

Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy prime minister and minister of defense, held talks with Gulf and regional leaders in which they discussed among other things the two Green Initiatives that is set to change the direction of the region toward a Green era.
Crown Prince Muhammad made a phone call on Sunday to Kuwait Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. During the call, they discussed the Middle East Green Initiative announced by the Crown Prince, which aims, in partnership with the countries of the region, to plant 50 billion trees as the largest reforestation program in the world.
It also aims to enhance the efficiency of oil production and increase the contribution of renewable energy, in addition to multiple efforts to preserve the marine and coastal environment, and increase the percentage of natural reserves.
They also reviewed the importance of the initiative in facing environmental challenges in the region and the world, and its role in improving the quality of life and public health.
For his part, the Emir of Kuwait, lauded the efforts exerted by the Crown Prince. He appreciated the initiative and expressed Kuwait's readiness to work with the Kingdom to achieve the goals of the initiative.
Crown Prince Muhammad also made a phone call Sunday to Bahrain King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa. During the call, they discussed the content of Crown Prince announcement on "Saudi Green" and "Middle East Green" initiatives that are to be launched soon by Saudi Arabia, to face the economic and social challenges related to the environmental situation in the region and the world.
They also discussed the importance of the two initiatives in addressing these challenges through the largest reforestation program in the world, and increasing the percentage of the contribution of clean energy and natural reserves, that will contribute to achieving sustainable development in the region and enhancing the quality of life of the population.
King of Bahrain thanked the Crown Prince for his initiative and expressed Bahrain's readiness to support all efforts to achieve its goals.
Crown Prince Muhammad also made a phone call today to Qatar Emir Sheikh Tammim bin Hamad Al Thani of the State of Qatar.
During the call, they reviewed the announcement of Crown Prince on the "Saudi Green" Initiative and the "Middle East Green" Initiative, the importance of joint action in the region to face the environmental challenges that the region has been going through for decades.
They discussed the development of an ambitious and clear regional road map to address it in all aspects, including clean energy, reforestation and natural reserves, in order to achieve a significant reduction in carbon emissions, preserve biodiversity, and enhance public health and quality of life.
The Qatar Emir expressed his appreciation for the initiative and Qatar's support for all efforts that achieve its goals.
Crown Prince Muhammad Salman spoke on the phone Sunday to Chairman of Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan Gen. Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Al-Burhan.
During the call, they discussed the announcement of the "Saudi Green" Initiative and the "Middle East Green" Initiative, which emboides Saudi Arabia's pioneering role in addressing pressing global issues, and the ambitious initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and enhancing public health and quality of life.
The enhancement will be through planting 50 billion trees, improving the efficiency of oil production and raising the rates of renewable energy, and the major economic benefits that will be achieved, creating a large number of jobs and sustainable economic development.
Gen. Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Al-Burhan lauded the initiative, which would benefit the region and the world, expressing Sudan's readiness to work with the Kingdom to achieve the goals of initiative.
Crown Prince Muhammad also made a phone call Sunday to the Iraq Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi. During the call, they discussed the "Middle East Green" Initiative announced by the Crown Prince.
The initiative aims, in partnership with the countries of the region, to plant 50 billion trees as the largest reforestation program in the world, and the importance of improving the production efficiency of oil production processes and benefiting from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a leader of the oil industry.
They also reviewed the benefits of the project for the region and the world, topped by facing environmental challenges and improving the quality of life, in addition to achieving a reduction in global carbon levels.
The Iraqi prime minister lauded the initiative, stressing his country's support to achieve its goals. — SPA
