Education Minister: 'Dual degrees and scientific majors' reflect labor market needs

Minister of Education Dr. Hamad Bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh Monday inaugurated a workshop entitled "Dual Academic Degrees and Scientific Majors in Saudi Universities" organized virtually by the Ministry's Agency for University Education.
More than 104 participants from 42 governmental and private universities took part in the workshop, which aimed at discussing and creating degrees or scientific majors with dual specialization or interdisciplinary as per the labor market needs.
Addressing the workshop attendees, Al-Sheikh underlined the Saudi leadership's generous support of the university education in the Kingdom in general, believing in the importance of the mission of universities in building and educating the human resources.
This is in addition to developing their skills and capabilities and playing a greater role in providing the requirements of comprehensive development and matching education outcomes with the labor market needs.
Al-Sheikh explained that the universities are working on a project to develop the university education in a way consistent with the needs of the labor market, by harmonizing the outputs of education.
The minister highlighted that everyone has the opportunity to improve and develop their performance to serve these goals.
CubeSat successful launch
a boost for space sector
Minister of Education Dr. Hamad Bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh extended thanks to and appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince for the great support they paid for the scientific research and invention in the Kingdom's universities,
He pointed out that the launching of the first Saudi satellite by King Saudi University, dedicated for scientific purposes, Monday, at the Republic of Kazakhstan-based Baikonur base, is considered as a completion of the big efforts exerted by the Kingdom, under the wise leadership, to put the Kingdom among the top class in space sector.
In a press statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the minister said that the CubeSat satellite is a continuation of the Saudi universities' efforts to back up the scientific field with researchers, scientists, inventors and developers, in the space domain and introduce new field for designing and programming satellites.
The researchers and students at Creativity and Invention Center of the Faculty of Engineering, affiliated to King Saud University, have been working on, since 1437, on the ministry of education's interest in the strategy of promoting national human capabilities, at all education stages, to cope with the fourth industrial revolution requirements and graduate successive generations with avidness and interest in space, in order to realize the goals of Vision 2030. —
