Bahrain welcomes Latvia, Slovenia's decision to designate Hezbollah terrorist organization
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 02 - 12 - 2020

MANAMA — Bahrain has welcomed the decision of the governments of Latvia and the Republic of Slovenia to designate Hezbollah a terrorist organization.
In a statement on Tuesday carried by the Bahrain News Agency, the foreign ministry said that the decision is a constructive and pivotal step taken in support of efforts to confront this terrorist organization and combat its activities.
It commended the efforts of Latvia and Slovenia in combating terrorism and confronting dangerous terrorist organizations and all its branches. It stressed the need to strengthen the efforts of the international community aimed at eliminating extremism and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and to dry up its sources of funding, the statement added.
Latvia and Slovenia both designated Hezbollah a terrorist organization in its entirety on Monday.
They are the latest in a series of European and Latin American states to make the designation this year.
Both states have been praised for the decision by the United States, which staunchly encourages other countries to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
