Al-Kasabi: Summit confirms Kingdom's role in leading global efforts in all fields
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 28 - 10 - 2020

Dr. Saad Bin Othman Al-Kasabi, governor of Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), said that the Kingdom's organization of the Riyadh International Standards Summit comes as a true translation of the aspirations of our wise leadership to strengthen the Kingdom's leadership in all fields.
He explained that the summit, which will be held virtually on Wednesday (Nov. 4, 2020), is the first summit of its kind at the level of meetings and events of G20 countries.
He pointed out that it is a national initiative that all specialists and those interested in standards are proud of, stressing that this initiative was met with great support and interest by global and regional bodies, while confirming the importance and role of the Kingdom in leading global efforts in various fields.
Al-Kasabi stressed that the field of standards plays a pivotal role in supporting economy and industry, and enhancing trade exchange between countries. In addition, standards enhance the institutional capabilities in facing crises and challenges.
The SASO governor indicated that national and international standardization organizations have made many efforts to support government, private and non-profit institutions, by enabling them to implement the requirements of many standards related to risk management, business continuity, volunteering and medical devices.
Riyadh International Standards Summit is under the patronage of the Minister of Commerce, Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al-Qassabi, and organized by SASO and G20 Saudi Secretariat, with the participation of a number of national and international bodies.
Those participating are Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and International Telecommunication Union (ITU). — SPA
