Published in The Saudi Gazette on 24 - 10 - 2020

LuLu, the region's largest hypermarket chain, is organizing its annual food festival "World Food" across its stores in the KSA from Oct. 21 to Nov. 3, 2020. A celebration of flavors and culture, the two-week festival brings together foodies and shoppers in a gastronomic experience of global cuisines from more than 25 countries, the country's very first virtual food art competition with "Pancake Challenge", massive in-store product offers, and the esteemed presence and support of celebrity chef and Saudi's culinary rock star, Chef Binkasem.
The World Food 2020 highlights many themes, such as follows:
• Biryani Mela: Authentic Savoury Rice Favorites
• Pancake Challenge
• Asian Food: Filipino • Thai • Japanese • Far Eastern
• BBQ Festival: Taste of Outdoors to Every Plate
• Malabar Thakkaaram: Experience the Taste of Kerala
• Arabian Delights: Experience Middle East in a Feast of Senses
• Dhaba Wala: The Best of North Indian Cuisine
• Bakes & Sweets: Cakes, Bakes & Everything Desserts
• Continental Cuisines: Flavors from the Europe
Shehim Mohammed, director of LuLu Hypermarkets in Saudi Arabia, shared: "We have been organising our food festival for more than 11 years now, but this is our biggest celebration yet. Despite the current pandemic limitations for hosting physical events, we have received extensive support from different embassies, trade promotion councils, various community organizations, hotel and tourism sector, celebrity chefs, and social media influencers. Our aim is to showcase the wide range of global flavors that we offer, which truly makes us where the world comes to shop."
Apart from the food-themed festivals, LuLu introduces Pancake Challenge, which will gather food enthusiasts to showcase their knack for food plating and recipe video editing on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook with the hashtag #LuLuWorldFoodKSA. LuLu will be giving SR3,000 for the first prize and SR2,000 for the second prize. Moreover, LuLu will be giving away 1,000 free trolleys every hour along with putting food trucks and local ice cream carts on the spotlight.
With 193 stores operating worldwide, LuLu has been continuously exerting its greatest efforts to provide and sustain the supply of global products at the best rates. With the excellent combination of high-quality offerings and organized logistics system, LuLu remains to be the favorite shopping destination in Saudi Arabia when it comes to a broader selection of international products. — SG
