The Speaker of Arab Parliament, Adel Abdurrahman Al-Asoumi, welcomed the agreement signed Friday by the parties to the Joint Military Committee of the Government of National Accord and the Libyan National Army for a permanent ceasefire in all parts of Libya.
Al-Asoumi stressed in a statement Saturday that this agreement represents an important step in resolving the crisis, ending the conflict and stabilizing the state of Libya, praising the positive spirit of the Libyan parties that appeared in the first direct meeting hosted by Egypt at the end of last September, leading to the signing of the ceasefire agreement today under the auspices of the United Nations.
Earlier, the Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al-Hajraf, welcomed the signing by the parties to the conflict in Libya of a permanent ceasefire agreement in all Libyan territories, after the successful negotiations that were held in Geneva between the joint Libyan military committees under the auspices of the United Nations. He expressed his hope this agreement would lead to a comprehensive political solution that would bring security and stability to the Libyan people.
In Khartoum, Sudan has welcomed the permanent and immediate ceasefire agreement in Libya. The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the agreement demonstrated a great deal of commitment and keenness to achieve peace and political settlement of the crisis in Libya, calling on all parties to do everything possible that maintain interest of Libyan people.
In Algeirs, Algeria has welcomed the ceasefire agreement, signed by the Libyan parties in Geneva, under the auspices of the United Nations, hoping that it would be permanent, calling on all Libyan parties to adhere to and implement it sincerely.
