RIYADH — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief) has signed a memorandum of cooperation with UNICEF to hand over donations of some winners of the "Gamers Without Borders" electronic championship organized recently by the Saudi Arabian Federation for Electronic and Intellectual Sports (SAFEIS).
As part of the agreement, the donations amounting to $3.974 will be used by UNICEF to support children in some coronavirus-hit countries.
The agreement was signed by KSRelief's assistant supervisor general for operations and programs Ahmed Ali Al-Baiz and UNICEF representative in the GCC region Eltayeb Adam at the center's premises in Riyadh on Thursday.
In a press statement following the signing ceremony, Adam said the agreement includes a generous grant from KSRelief and SAFEIS to UNICEF, amounting to nearly $4 million, which will help the organization to address the coronavirus pandemic in the Middle East and North African countries, including Sudan and Palestine.
The UNICEF representative pointed out that the support will be provided in the fields of public health, medical services, education, child protection, and psychosocial support for the most vulnerable children in these countries.
He praised the distinguished partnership and KSRelief's remarkable role in helping UNICEF to support children and their families in all countries of the world.
On his part, the CEO of SAFEIS Turki Al-Fawzan extended his sincere thanks to KSRelief for forging the partnership with the federation for the "Gamers Without Borders" championship.
