The UAE on Sunday reported three new coronavirus-related deaths and 390 new infections, bringing the death toll to 375 and the total registered cases to 67,007. The Gulf country also reported 80 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic to 58,488. Subtracting the deaths and recoveries from the total number of registered cases, it is concluded that there are currently 8,144 active cases in the country. Close to 6.5 million tests have been conducted as part of a mass screening strategy adopted across the country. The latest daily case figures are down 34 from the number of infections reported on Saturday. Infection rates have steadily risen over the past week — from only 210 last Sunday to 461 on Thursday — with officials urging the public to take extra care to help avoid a continued surge in numbers. Death of five family members denied The United Arab Emirates denied on Saturday the death of five members of one family due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA). The statement added that "the matter has now been referred to the Federal Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Prosecution to take the necessary legal measures in coordination with the authorities concerned." — Agencies
